There are calls for Longford County Council to seek funding from Transport Infrastructure Ireland to investigate the possibility of a bypass on the N55, which goes through Ballymahon.
The six councillors in the Ballymahon Municipal District are bringing a joint motion forward on the issue to their monthly meeting tomorrow.
They say a bypass would improve traffic flow and safety in the town.
