Plans for a new bridge between Carrick-on-Shannon and Cootehall will go to tender early in 2026.
Up to 5 million euro will be spent on a replacement for Hartley Bridge.
It's around two miles outside Carrick and three miles from Cootehall village.

The current bridge is over 100 years old and Leitrim County Council chief executive, Joseph Gilhooly, says it's in poor condition.
