The project to build a new 50-bed unit at Portiuncula Hospital in Ballinasloe has moved a significant step forward with the shortlisting of contractors for the multi-million euro development.
It's hoped that tenders will be issued in the coming weeks after the 'Contractor Selection' process closes on 25th March. Enabling works to allow for the construction of the additional unit are also progressing and are expected to be complete by July of this year.
James Keane, General Manager of Portiuncula University Hospital is hopefully that the construction phase will begin on the project will start in August with a completion date of early 2023. The 15 million euro project will include a 4,000 sqm building with a 50-bed unit, link corridor incorporating lift and storage area.
