Close to 190 housing commencement notices were lodged across the Shannonside region so far this year.
The figures have been released by the Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage.
A commencement notice is a notification to a Building Control Authority that a person intends to carry out works or a material change of use to a building.

In the Shannonside region, Co. Roscommon had the most notices at 80. That's followed by Co. Longford at 65, and 42 in Co. Leitrim.
From January 2025 to August 2025, there were 8,540 notices received nationally.
