Nearly 1,300 delayed transfers from hospitals across the region

There were nearly 1,300 delayed transfers of care from the hospital to the community in the west and north-west last year.

A local Fianna Fáil TD says it's due to a lack of residential care, community care and rehabilitation.

Martin Daly says it's one third of the national total - even though the region only has a fifth of the population.
