It's expected a section of the new N5 Ballaghaderreen to Scramogue bypass will be open in the coming weeks.
Roscommon County Council chief executive Shane Tiernan confirmed the news at yesterday's council meeting.
It's hoped a 7km section of the road from Ballinagare/Frenchpark to Tibohine will be opened by the end of March.
