The N4 near Mullingar has been closed in both directions following a serious collision this morning.
One person has been taken to the Midland Regional Hospital Mullingar with severe injuries following the incident just after 7am.
The two-vehicle collision occurred close to the Lough Owel viewing point near the town. According to Gardaí, the road is currently closed in both directions and local diversions are in place.
