The cathaoirleach of Longford Municipal District says the overhaul of Connolly Barracks will be a huge boost to community groups.
The historic building shut down in 2009 and is being converted into a cultural and community hub.
The project has secured €7 million in funding, and it will be complete in two years’ time.
