Motorists warned to remain vigilant as motor thefts rise in region

Nationally, over 4,000 motor theft and related offences were reported in the first two quarters of the year.

Motorists in the Shannonside region are warned to remain vigilant following a rise in local motor thefts.
It comes as the Central Statistics Office reported that 13 such thefts were reported across the Sligo-Leitrim Garda Division in the second quarter to the year.
This represents an increase of 10 incidents compared to the first three months of 2024.

Nationally, over 4,000 motor theft and related offences were reported in the first two quarters of the year.
Insurance OUTsurance have warned drivers to take all necessary precautions in order to safeguard their vehicles this winter.
Speaking to Shannonside FM, Chief Managing Officer Ian Kennedy offered some timely tips:
