A local councillor has urged motorists to slow down and heed warning signs at a dangerous Roscommon junction. Ballinaboy Cross on the N63 between Kilteevan and Derrane has been the scene of a number of serious crashes in recent years. The most recent road traffic collision saw two people hospitalised on Sunday afternoon. Last year, the council installed warning signs on the L1806 between Kilteevan and Derrane.
It said the use of navigation tools such as Google Maps had lead to an increase in traffic using the route. Transport Infrastructure Ireland also increased warning signs on the national route. Cllr Larry Brennan says despite these measures, the junction remains a black spot for accidents:
