Motorists advised caution following overnight rain

Local motorists are being advised to drive with extreme care and caution following overnight spells of rain.

Frost, snow, ice and black ice remains on many local, regional and national roads.

All national routes have previous been gritted and will be again later today.

County Longford is still under a status yellow low temperature/ ice warning while a status yellow snow-ice warning is in effect for Leitrim and Roscommon.

Each warning will elapse at 9am this morning.
