Gardaí in Leitrim detected a motorist driving under the influence of drugs earlier this week.
The local Policing Unit detected a motorist driving in excess of the speed limit. and they were subsequently stopped.
Following a routine drugs test, the driver was detected to have cannabis in their system and they were subsequently arrested and a sample was taken for further analysis.

A fixed charge penalty notice issued for speeding as well as a fine and 3 penalty points and Gardai are reminding motorists as the roads get busier to adhere to all speed limits and never drive while under the influence of an intoxicant.
