A motorist caught speeding in Co. Roscommon is among the highest speeds detected by Gardaí so far this Bank Holiday weekend.
The driver was caught driving at 90km per hour in a 60km per hour zone on the N4, on the Roscommon side of Carrick-on-Shannon.
Gardaí are conducting mandatory intoxicant testing and high visibility checkpoints this weekend.
The Bank Holiday Roads Policing Operation began on Thursday and will run until 7am on Tuesday.
Cork City Roads Policing Inspector Gillian Synott says she expects the high visibility of Gardai on the roads to be a deterrent to dangerous driving.
