A motorist has been arrested by Westmeath Gardaí after he was detected driving nearly 200 kilometres per hour on the M6.
The Westmeath Roads Policing Unit clocked the driver at 198 kph on the motorway near Cullenagower, Moate earlier this week.
The driver of the vehicle was arrested following the stoppage and taken into custody.

They have since been released but will appear before the courts at a later date.
