The mother of a local TD has hit out at 'hurtful' commentary on social media in the run up to the election. Angela Kerrane was speaking following the re-election of daughter Claire Kerrane in Roscommon-Galway. The Sinn Féin TD was her party's spokesperson on Children, Equality, Disability, Integration and Youth during the last Dáil term.
Angela admits that she feels protective of Claire due to a rise in what she called 'untrue' social media comments. Speaking to Shannonside News, she highlighted the effect this has on politicians' loved ones:
