The Taoiseach says more work needs to be done before plans to turn Athlone into a green city can fully progress.
Developer Sean Mulryan and Ballymore hope to complete the project by 2040.
Following a presentation to Roscommon councillors last month, Mulryan said the Government now needs to progress the plans.
