Councillor Paddy Farrell raised the issue at yesterday's Leitrim County Council meeting.

Leitrim County Council have been called on to urge the Minister for Justice and the Government to work with Northern Ireland to regulate the flow of immigrants across the border. Leitrim Councillor Paddy Farrell raised the issue at yesterday's Leitrim County Council meeting.

There has been a 95% increase in asylum seekers applying for international protection, according to figures from the Department of Justice. 7,080 asylum seekers have arrived here in the first four months of 2024, compared to 3,628 in the same period in 2023. Speaking to Shannonside FM News, Cllr Farrell outlined his concerns with the current situation:
