The Minister for Justice is to raise the ever-increasing violence in Longford town with the Garda Commissioner.
On Monday, two men, one in his 20s and the other in his 30s suffered serious injuries in a double stabbing in the county town.
While it emerged at this week's meeting of Longford County Council that of the nine officers that have left Longford since December, only two have been replaced.
