Minister responds to local storm backlash

Just this month, Storm Amy caused power outages in this region due to fallen power lines.

The Minister for Forestry says work is being carried out to safeguard powerlines ahead of future storms.

Minister of State Michael Healy Rae says a Winter Resilience Plan will see Government departments working with the ESB.

Thousands of customers were left without power following Storms Darragh and Éowyn earlier this year.

He hit back at claims that a review and remedial efforts were moving too slowly:

Minister Healy Rae will appear alongside Teagasc at a forestry event in Ballinasloe on Tuesday, October 21st.

That event takes place at the Shearwater Hotel from 7pm to 10.30 pm.
