Minister Dara Calleary launches 2026 Tidy Towns competition in Carrick-on-Shannon

The Leitrim town was named Ireland's Tidiest Town for 2025 as well as Ireland's Tidiest Small Town.

The Rural and Community Development Minister was in Carrick-on-Shannon today to launch this year's Tidy Towns competition.
The Leitrim town was named Ireland's Tidiest Town for 2025 as well as Ireland's Tidiest Small Town.

Crowds of volunteers and local representatives gathered at the Riverside Amenity Park to celebrate the win.
Speaking at the launch, Minister Dara Calleary says there is much to be learned from the people of Carrick-on-Shannon:

The Department of Rural and Community Development provides annual grant funding to TidyTowns groups, with a package of €1.5 million announced in the past two years.
