Met Eireann has been given the green light for a new weather radar in Cloonfad. The development is part of a five-year national project to expand Ireland's radar network from two to seven sites.
The new radar will enhance rainfall monitoring and flood prediction, improving weather forecasting accuracy. Roscommon County Planners gave the project the go ahead this week and local Cllr Paschal Fitzmaurice says it will be a positive addition to the area:
