Germany wants the deal to be immediately implemented provisionally.

The controversial Mercosur deal could be brought into force provisionally - before it's ratified by MEPs.

The majority of MEPs yesterday voted to send the deal to the European Court of Justice to see if it complies with EU treaties.

But Germany wants the deal to be immediately implemented provisionally.

The Irish Times is reporting the European Commission has the power to do this - before it's approved by MEPs.

But local MEP Ciaran Mullooly disagrees with Germany's stance on the EU-South America deal:
