Massive car fire leads to traffic delays on N5 at Tarmonbarry

A car has been destroyed in a fire in Tarmonbarry, on the Roscommon/Longford border.

Fire services are at the scene and the blaze has now been brought under control.

The vehicle caught fire outside a house in the middle of the village shortly after 6pm this evening.

There are delays at the scene, with a traffic management plan in place, but the N5 remains open.

Onlookers say there was no one in the car at the time and no one has been injured.
