A mass is taking place in Co Roscommon today to mark the 40th anniversary of the brutal death of Fr Niall Molloy.
No one has ever been convicted for his killing.
Fr Niall Molloy was killed in Richard and Therese Flynn's home - Kilcoursey House - in Clara, Co Offaly, on July 8th, 1985.
Richard admitted hitting him at least twice and was charged with his manslaughter.
But he pleaded not guilty and was acquitted in 1986.
Richard died in 2017 and his wife, Therese, died several years earlier, in 1993.
No one has ever been convicted in relation to the death of Fr Molloy, who was 52 at the time.
His family is continuing to campaign for justice and is calling for a commission of investigation.
A Mass to mark the 40th anniversary of Fr Molloy's death is taking place at 11.30 this morning in Castlecoote, where he was based when he died.
