A man in his 30s remains in garda custody this afternoon after three guns were discovered in a van in Castlerea last night.
It's believed the man, who was arrested by Gardai following a surveillance operation, is from the Westmeath area and the guns were being transported on behalf of a Dublin crime gang.
Gardaí made the arrest after the van was stopped in Castlerea at around 8.30 last night.

The weapons, which were fully loaded have been sent for forensic examination today and a small amount of heroin was later seized in Castlerea town after follow-up searches.
