A man has been stabbed in Longford town.
The incident happened in the Chapel Lane area of the town at around 8.20pm on Wednesday evening.
The victim was subsequently taken to Mater Misericordiae Hospital in Dublin for serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
An investigation is continuing and anyone with information is being urged to contact Longford Garda Station.
In a statement, Gardaí say that they received a report of a public order incident in Longford on Wednesday.
A man aged in his 30s was assaulted and is being treated for serious but non-life-threatening injuries in the Mater Misericordiae Hospital in Dublin.
No other injuries are reported at this time.
Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the incident to come forward.
Anyone who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) in the Chapel Lane area on Wednesday 28th January 2026 between 8:00pm and 9:00pm is asked to make this footage available to investigating Gardaí.
Concluding, Gardai say that investigations are ongoing.
