A pedestrian has died after being hit by a truck on the M6 motorway in Offaly.
The incident occurred at about 4.45 this morning westbound between Junctions 5 and 6 near Tullamore.
The pedestrian - a man in his 50s - was pronounced dead at the scene.

His body remains at the scene while a forensic examination takes place.
The driver of the truck - a man in his 40s - was uninjured.
The M6 is closed westbound between Junctions 5 and 6, with diversions in place.

Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to come forward.
