A 36-year-old man, charged with the murder of a man in Co Leitrim, has been remanded in custody until next month, while he has been granted legal aid and medical treatment.
The accused appeared in court briefly this morning.
Latvia native Janis Balodis, 41, was pronounced dead after being found unresponsive at a home in Arderry, between Ballinamore and Carrigallen, last Thursday night.
Bartosz Cylka, with an address at Arderry, Corrawaleen, was charged with his murder last Saturday at a special court sitting in Carrick-on-Shannon.
At that point, Detective Sergeant Michael Kelly, from Carrick-on-Shannon Garda Station, gave evidence of arrest, charge and caution.
On Saturday, the case was adjourned until today’s sitting of Carrick District Court.
Today, barrister Karen Walsh represented Mr Cylka, instructed by solicitor John Anderson.
Judge Eiteáin Cunningham adjourned the case until the July 9 sitting of Sligo District Court, by consent, when Mr Cylka will appear by videolink. Judge Cunningham remanded him in custody.
She certified for a polish interpreter and for legal aid for Mr Cylka.
Junior counsel Walsh said Mr Cylka needs medical treatment and Judge Cunningham directed he get medical treatment as required.
