A man charged with the murder of Detective Colm Horkan is due back in court today.

Stephen Silver, with an address in Aughaward, Foxford, is to appear via video link at Harristown District Court.

The 43-year-old mechanic was transferred to a hospital earlier this week after initially being remanded in prison when he appeared at a special sitting of Castlerea District Court this day last week.

On that occasion he said " unreal, absolutely unreal, I had no firearm on me" when appearing before Judge Alan Mitchell.

All relevant medical assessments and evaluations were ordered to be carried out and he was remanded in custody to appear in court again today.

The Roscommon native is due to appear via video link at Harristown District court this morning for service of the book of evidence.
