Gardai are investigating an incident of aggravated burglary in Co. Westmeath.
The incident occurred in the early hours of yesterday morning at a residence in Ballykeeran, Athlone.
Two people broke into the home of a man and assaulted him, leaving the scene with a sum of money.

The man, who lives alone. was taken to Tullamore Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
Gardai are currently investigating the incident, and anyone with information is urged to contact Athlone Garda Station.
