Majority of local parents want schools to maintain denominational ethos

Longford ranks joint second highest in the country in terms of percentage of parents of children in denominational primary schools that expressed a preference for their school's ethos to remain that way. The figure there is 70.5 per cent.

Both Roscommon and Leitrim are over 50 per cent. 65.8 per cent expressed a preference in Roscommon, in Leitrim, the total was 62.2 per cent. 73.3 per cent of parents of children in single-sex primary schools in Longford indicated a preference for their school to transition to co-education. While Roscommon was marginally behind on 72.3 per cent. There are no single-sex primary schools in county Leitrim.
