Longford County Council announced that a major road in Longford is to be included for salting and gritting into this year's Winter Roads Programme.
The stretch of road from Aughnacliffe to Esker cross is to be included in the winter programme.
The zone is the most elevated stretch of road in County Longford and during the winter months it can be extremely treacherous.
Speaking to Shannonside FM, North Longford Councillor Garry Murtagh said that he had been seeking the gritting of this road to the winter programme since his election in 2019.
