Funding is to be provided for a major energy upgrade of Elphin fire station in Roscommon.
A quarter-of-a-million-euro is being allocated from the Department of Housing for the energy efficiency work which was previously earmarked for the station over a decade ago.
Ex Housing Minister and Roscommon TD Michael Finneran announced the works as part of a previous government but the funding was not available during the last recession for them to be undertaken.

Senator Eugene Murphy has welcomed the funding and hopes that works might begin in early 2022.
