People accessing car parks in Boyle's Lough Key Forrest Park will once have to pay to exit.

Management had left the barriers open during the recent Level 5 restrictions to allow people access the park, however serious littering has taken place, particularly last weekend, with the fine weather.

It's hoped that facilities can re-open next month, but with no income, there is reduced staff to be able to continue to clean up at the levels required.

Manager Louise Fitzpatrick says she now needs to lower the barrier again where it's four euro to exit, this is to cover costs, particularly as her teams are engaged in preparing for re-opening next month.

While the majority of people have not littered, she describes the type of rubbish left all over the amenity by a small cohort.
