Longford town is one of around 50 areas that has applied for a family resource centre - with only 10 spaces available.
The news was revealed by Children's Minister Norma Foley this morning.
She visited the Attic House on the Ballinalee Road, which has been identified as the premises for the centre.
It unsuccessfully applied to be one of five areas for a centre last year.
They've once again applied this year, with 10 spaces available.
