A Longford-Westmeath TD says he plans to meet with developer Sean Mulryan over plans for a 'Green City' in Athlone. Fine Gael's Parliamentary Chair Micheál Carrigy says he supports the ambitious project. Mr Mulryan and the Ballymore Group met with Roscommon councillors on Monday to discuss the plan.
It would involve the population of the midlands town increasing to 100,000 by 2040. Deputy Carrigy says the development of a green city would benefit the entire region:
