Longford Senator Micheal Carrigy has apologised for comments he made about former Ireland soccer player Robbie Keane earlier this month.
The north Longford man issued a press release last week about the player and his role with the FAI.
This Fine Gael representative has this morning issued a statement clarifying that the information contained in this release was "inaccurate and false in a number of respects and was unfair."

The Seanad spokesperson on Media, Arts, Sports & Tourism has confirmed he has withdrawn the press release and “apologises to Robbie for any damage caused."
