A Longford school raising funds for a new pitch through the deposit return scheme has passed the €100,000 mark.
The 'Pitch in' for Melview National School campaign is seeking to create a safer, more accessible all-weather astro play space at the school outside of Longford Town.
The school has also used the funds to install a multisensory area in the school building.
Parents, families and local businesses are continuing to drop off large amounts of bottles and cans to the school and other designated drop off spots around the county.
Those items are then returned by volunteers to the Re-Turn scheme locations with the recouped funds lodged in the school's GoFundMe appeal.
The campaign has been supplemented with a number of other fundraisers over the last number of months.
Principal Bryan Kennedy says they are now planning a major fundraiser to cross the finish line.
