Two well-known Longford town figures have confirmed they have their sights set on seats in Leinster House in the future.
Fianna Fáil councillor Uruemu Adejinmi is the cathaoirleach of the Longford Municipal District.
In 2021, she became the first person of colour to take up a cathaoirleach role in Longford County Council at any level.
She confirms she would like a seat in the Oireachtas in the future:
Former councillor Gerry Warnock quit local politics last year and then unsuccessfully contested the general election last November, in Longford-Westmeath.
