Longford is one of six counties that have not recorded a road death so far this year. According to the Irish Independent, road deaths are down 12.5% compared to the same time last year.
60 people have died on Irish roads so far in 2025 which is down from 68 in 2024. Longford, Clare, Kildare, Louth, Monaghan and Wicklow are the only counties which have recorded no road deaths so far this year.
