A Longford mother welcomed one of the first babies of 2025.
Shaunagh Carberry from Carrickboy, Co. Longford gave birth to a baby girl at Mullingar Regional Hospital at 2:24 a.m.
Her baby was the first in the region to be born in the new year.

Speaking on the Joe Finnegan Show yesterday, Shaunagh said the timeliness of her daughter's birth was the last thing on her mind when she was in the delivery room.
