Gardaí in Co. Longford are warning the public of a cold caller in the area.
A number of reports were received of a bogus tradesman calling to homes to carry out tarmac work.
Gardaí say the most vulnerable are usually targeted, and that excessive prices are charged for sub-standard work.
They are urging members of the public to stay vigilant, and to report any incident to the local Garda station.
