Longford County Council will hold a special meeting on September 15th to discuss whether to back a candidate in the presidential election.
It is among a number of local authorities that are expected to hold meetings to hear from candidates looking for support in their bid for the Áras.
Candidates seeking to run must be nominated by four local authorities or have the backing of 20 members of the Oireachtas.
Special meetings will take place on Monday, September 15th.
