A Longford councillor says a more visible Garda presence would deter public disorder incidents in the town.
Independent councillor Gerry Warnock was speaking after a fight between two men went viral on social media earlier this week.
Cllr Warnock witnessed the incident and said it caused further damage to Longford's reputation.
Gardaí attended the scene of the disorder on Wednesday night and one man was arrested.
