A Longford councillor has called for the contracts of Just Transition co-ordinators to be extended.
Their contracts are due to finish at the end of this year, but Cllr Sean Mimnagh wants a three to five-year extension.
Co-ordinators manage projects under the EU Just Transition Fund, which is aimed at communities impacted by the banning of peat in electricity production.
The fund covers eight counties in the midlands, including Longford, Roscommon and Westmeath, and the Municipal District of Ballinasloe.
