A Longford councillor says people need to be able to have a greater say in the lead up to Presidential Elections.
Just three candidates will be on the ballot paper for next months election, which is the lowest since 1990.
Earlier this week, conservative campaigner Maria Steen, failed to receive the required 20 nominations from TD's and Senators to contest the election.
