A Longford charity is set to launch an innovative mobile pet therapy service at a local hospital this morning. Cian's Kennel's allows children undergoing hospital stays to re-unite with their family pets at a purpose built centre on the grounds of Crumlin Children's Hospital. The charity was set up in honour of Longford teen Cian Neary who passed away at 15 years of age. The new mobile pet therapy service will provide a safe and welcoming space for children and teens to interact with fully trained and certified therapy dogs.
Pet therapy has been proven to have a substantial number of physical and mental health benefits for children and adults alike. The service will be officially launched at Midlands Regional Hospital Mullingar this morning from 9.30.
