From March, landlords will be able to reset rent to full market levels for any new tenancy.

Rents for new tenants in Longford and Leitrim could rise by more than €3,000 a year, under new rental rules.

From March, landlords will be able to reset rent to full market levels for any new tenancy.

This is expected to sharply increase rent for new tenants, according to figures in the Irish Independent.

They'll rise by almost €3,200 a year in Leitrim, nearly €3,400 in Longford, and almost €2,000 in Roscommon.

The average monthly rent for new tenants in Leitrim is expected to be €1,112; €1,106 in Roscommon; and €1,258 in Longford.
