Longford advocate calls for more conversations on mental health

April 7th marks national 'hello, how are you' day.

A Longford health advocate is encouraging people to breakdown the stigma surrounding poor mental well-being.

Anne Howard's message comes on national 'hello, how are you' day which asks communities to open up a conversation about mental health.

The former psychiatric nurse believes talking to someone can have a positive impact on a person's life and she's urging everyone to engage and listen to each other.

The nationwide campaign is organised by Mental Health Ireland is being rolled out in towns across the region today.

Speaking to Shannonside FM Anne says it's important if you're feeling unwell to seek out help.
