Some children in Ballinasloe go to school to be fed because they're so poor, according to a Fianna Fáil TD. It comes as the number of children in consistent poverty in Ireland has risen above 100,000.
The Children’s Rights Alliance latest edition of its annual Child Poverty Monitor showed the figure rose by just over 45,000 last year. Deputy Martin Daly says he has attended meetings in Ballinasloe recently about deprivation:
